Jean Darnall:
“…fires were burning from the top of Scotland to Land’s End on the tip of Cornwall. Lightning streaked downward from the sky above me. I saw it touch down with flashing swiftness, exploding each of the fires into streams of light. Like lava they burned their fiery path downward from the top of Scotland to Land’s End. The waters did not stop this, but the fires spread across the seas to Ireland and to Europe…”
Many of you know will know of Jean Darnall’s (sometimes written as Darnell online) famous visions from 1967, partly concerning Scotland. They have inspired many to pray and be watchmen and women for the fulfilment of God’s promises. Here are some links and resources that collate Jean’s messages from over the years…
Dr. Jean Darnall began her preaching and healing ministry at the age of 16. She was an Associate Pastor at Angelus Temple following the death of the founder of the Foursquare Gospel denomination, Aimee Semple McPherson, who had been her pastor and mentor. Later, she and her late husband, Elmer, served in Panama, Canada, West Australia, the Eastern United States and, for a number of years, the UK. Jean Darnall is the author of Heaven Here I Come, a personal account of many miraculous answers to prayer. She is now a Pastoral Elder at The Church on the Way, Van Nuys, California.
In 1967 Jean had a recurring (three times) vision of the UK. She saw fires breaking out all over the nation, from Scotland to Lands End. As these God-lit fires were joined together they burned brighter. As she continued to pray she saw lightning, explosions of fire then rivers of fire flowing from Scotland, Ireland and Wales into England. Much of what she saw and prophesied she then helped to happen as the charismatic movement swept the country, not only touching the church but bringing many to faith for the first time.
You can read her full account of the visions, and her subsequent visions in 1987, in full on the Cross Rhythms website.
Jean preached about the visions at the New Wine Leader’s Conference in 2009. A transcript is currently available on the Pray for Scotland website.
(At the top of this post you can watch Jean herself, in an interview made at the same conference)
Here’s more of that extract from Jean Darnall’s 1967 vision:
“…fires were burning from the top of Scotland to Land’s End on the tip of Cornwall. Lightning streaked downward from the sky above me. I saw it touch down with flashing swiftness, exploding each of the fires into streams of light. Like lava they burned their fiery path downward from the top of Scotland to Land’s End. The waters did not stop this, but the fires spread across the seas to Ireland and to Europe.
“I will penetrate the darkness with a visitation of my power. With lightning swiftness I will release the power of my Spirit through a renewed people who have learned to be led of the Spirit. They will explode with a swiftness that will touch every part of the society of Britain…
“And the streams of fire into Europe, Lord?” My mind seemed to see an army of all types of people moving into the continent with a compassionate ministry. This ministry was not mass meetings, led by powerful personalities, preaching to spectators, but participating, caring communities involved with one another at grass roots level, sharing the love of God everywhere.”"
And then in 1987:
And I said, Lord, what is this? It’s something very important.’
One word He spoke to me: Scotland.
Scotland. I knew what it meant. I knew that He wanted me to come up [to Scotland], and I knew that he wanted me to come up with a special message. That message is to say to as many people as I can, in as many places as I can, that the second part of that vision is right at hand. It’s here, folks, that spiritual awakening: it’s starting; the very first signs of it are already upon us. Your generation are going to see a harvest of souls in this land such as you have never seen before. And it’s going to have a tremendous effect not only upon this nation and the British Isles, but upon many other nations.
